Buy order · Patch 1.0.4
Moon Sweepers best upgrades
Buy the upgrade that removes the wait you just felt, and buy it once for the crew. Since patch 1.0.3 the host's upgrade matrix is shared: anyone's purchase upgrades everyone. The only published price in the 1.0.4 notes is the night vision goggles at $350. Every other cost on the matrix is still unread in game.
Order that survives a missing price list
- Finish one paid loop with the toothbrush. You need the intake's number more than you need a shopping list.
- Place the depot on the dust. A bad depot taxes every later upgrade.
- One matrix purchase for the crew: capacity if the bin filled too fast, a wider or faster tool if the brush was the wait, a vehicle if the ground between piles was the wait. The store says earnings buy tools and carrying capacity. It does not price the rows.
- Night vision goggles, $350, on the N key, when darkness is the thing stopping the loop. They light the night like day and remove shadows, so they are a poor tool for judging distance while you place a foundation.
- A belt into the intake, a 100 kg capsule catcher, then J.O.O.N.A.S. The robot's 1.0.4 rules are the first automation purchase that the notes actually describe.
Solo, four players, sixteen players
| Crew | Buy first | Leave for later |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | Depot placement, then the haul upgrade you can feel, then night vision if you play through the night | A robot with nowhere to put capsules |
| 4 players | One shared matrix row, then a second depot or a belt so four brushes do not queue at one intake | Four copies of the same suit upgrade |
| 16 players | Sectors and a single buyer on the host matrix. Extra catchers, because 100 kg fills fast with a crowd | Sixteen people on one hex |
Early purchases that age badly
- Anything a day-one guide prices to the dollar, other than the store's $8.99 list and the $350 goggles. Those other prices were not in the notes.
- A private copy of an upgrade “so you are not leeching”. After 1.0.3 that second copy does not make a second matrix.
- DirectX 12, via -force-d3d12, as if it were an upgrade. On AMD it turns off the crash mitigation.
- Night vision before you have a depot. Seeing the dark does not pay the intake.
Questions
- What should a solo player buy first?
- Nothing, until one shipment has a number on the intake. Then buy the row that shortens the delay you just had: carry capacity, a better tool than the toothbrush, or a vehicle if the walk is the long part. Night vision is $350 and worth it when nights are when you stop working, not before the first useful haul upgrade.
- Does a 4-player or 16-player crew buy four or sixteen copies?
- No. Patch 1.0.3 says the crew uses the host's matrix and anyone's purchase upgrades everyone. Older saves keep the highest level anybody had already bought.
