Moon Sweepers automation guide

Automate after a depot exists, not before. Belts can deliver dust and stone into the intake, and patch 1.0.4 lets J.O.O.N.A.S. clean a hex from the outside in, keep working with nobody nearby, and fire capsules at the nearest catcher. Mergers alternate inputs. The catcher holds 100 kg.

The round cleaner stands in for J.O.O.N.A.S. As of 1.0.4 it keeps working with nobody nearby and fires capsules at the nearest catcher.

Questions

When does automation unlock?
The notes never print an unlock level or a dollar cost for the first belt. They do say you can place splitters, mergers, packagers, and J.O.O.N.A.S., and they describe how those pieces behave after 1.0.4. Read the unlock on your matrix. It is not copied here.
